Sponsored by Advanced Parts and Spares Limited, Dinesh Kumar still could not believe that he is Mr Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North King 2010.The Bua lad was crowned on Saturday night at the Subrail Park in Labasa. He realised yesterday that he has to do a lot for the betterment of the Northern Division and its people.“I’m happy and thank my sponsor for having faith and courage in me and for giving me an opportunity to be part of their company and this charitable event,’ he said.
“From the one week of the festival, I’ve gained a lot of experience in going out and meeting people and participating in non government organisations like the United Nation Development Programme.”When called for an interview early yesterday morning, the newly crowned Mr Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North 2010 was with the other king contestants enjoying the day following the climax of the weeklong festival.Mr Kumar said he is still coming to terms with the win and was in shock but delirious.I ran out of words when I was announced the winner and couldn’t describe how I felt. It was all a blur and I can just remember thanking my sponsor for their support,” he said.“The Northern annual event of the year will turn out bigger and better and whatever money the festival gets is given back to society in terms of development,” he said.Meanwhile his father, Dalip Kumar was filled with joy and said they were happy with his achievement. My wife and all the family members have
been supporting him from the first day of the festival and we always believe in him because we know him well having raised him.“He lived in Suva for three years, returning home with lots of experience and participating in this year’s festival was an eye opener to the family because he was a shy person.”He added that the Festival King has gained and learnt a lot of new values and ideals while being part of this year’s festival. His sponsor Advance Parts and Spares Limited manager Yogesh Chand said that they were happy with the performance of their King contestant on and off the stage during the week’s festival. His presentation was a commendable one and using the company name was a boost to us and the local economy,” he said.
