Miss friendly North back to class

Miss 2010 Vodafone Friendly North, Salaseini Vosamana, 21, proudly leaves Labasa for Suva today to continue her studies at the Fiji National University.Her proud sponsors Labasa Town Council hosted her to a morning tea yesterday to bid her farewell. Minister for Local Government, Colonel Samuela Saumatua conveyed his congratulations to the queen through the council.Miss Vosamana said while she feels sad to leave Labasa, her participation during the week-long festival was an achievement she was proud of.I have to leave my new found friends but life must go on. I’m sure we will always meet again and do something to develop our home town together,” Miss Vosamana said.The Seaqaqa lass hopes to return to Labasa during her semester break to do community work with other contestants.Miss Vosamana thanked her sponsors for their faith and support during the competition.The Media and Journalism student encouraged youths to do something positive in life and contribute to the development of the economy in which they live in.Like all other contestants for the Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North, this week is a time to rest and spend time with their families.Labasa Savusavu special administrator Vijay Chand said the win last Saturday was another achievement for the council in terms of their leadership roles.Winning the crown twice in a row for the council shows our capable leadership roles in looking after our town.Mr Chand said the council will continue to contest every year depending on the available resources.This is our contribution to charity works within the northern community. I think this only shows that we are giving back to the community and in return the Council gets the glory and fame.FNU vice chancellor Dr Ganesh Chand also conveyed his congratulations to the queen for participating in the annual event and succeeding.
