Police are investigating the disappearance of an undisclosed sum of money from the Suva Wharf.The incident is believed to have happened over the weekend.It is believed that two containers carried consignments of cash.However, upon arrival to the receivers, it was discovered that one of the consignments had been tampered with and a substantial sum of money missing.Police assistant spokesman Atunaisa Sokomuri said they were investigating the matter.“It has been brought to our attention and a special team is investigating the case,” he said.It is believed that the consignment was for the Reserve Bank of Fiji.The container carrying the bills arrived into port on Friday evening; however, the discovery of the missing money was made on Saturday.Inspector Sokomuri has called on members of the public who may have any information of the robbery to come forward and assist police.He said they are following several leads and more details will be released in due course.
